Lina Stores, King's Cross
Since Lina Stores opened in King’s Cross a few years ago, I’ve visited many a time with friends and family alike. Each time we try something new alongside our beloved favourites. Boasting mouth-watering plates of antipasti, pasta and desserts, their menu is best shared. This way you get to try a variety of flavours from across Italy.
Starting from humble beginnings, more than 75 years ago, Lina Stores has gone on to open restaurants at six locations across London. It all began in Soho, with Lina opening a delicatessen in 1944 (which you can still visit today).
Their King’s Cross brand is no different, with a restaurant one side and a delicatessen on the other. Here you can purchase imported ingredients from Italy, alongside fresh homemade pasta nad sauces, as well as cured meats, cheese and desserts.
If you stop by at Christmas time, you’ll also find their incredible Panettone and Pandoro cakes.
Menu
The menu is always changing with fresh pastas of all shapes and sizes cooked to order. Personal favourites over the years have included the Truffle Agnolotti (with fresh shavings of truffle), Crab Linguine (with Amalfi lemon), Butternut Squash and Sage Ravioli (the size of your palm!) and the 30 degree Egg Yolk Tagliolini,
Not to mention starters of Rosemary Focaccia, Charred Hispi Cabbage and creamy Burrata.
The icing on the cake, is their dessert menu. Here I don’t tend to stray far from their coveted Tiramisu - a good chunky slab of coffee, Savoiardi biscuits, Marsala wine and marscapone. But if I was to recommend anything else it would be their Cannolos or Affogato.
Price
The best thing about Lina Stores, other than the food itself, is the price! Antipasti ranges from £5 - £12, whilst pasta dishes start from £8, and dessert as low as £4.
Decor
The King’s Cross restaurant is a particular gem for it’s slick interiors. Think Wes Anderson meets 1950s contemporary Italian design. It’s all very chic!
