Megan's, Fulham

Last weekend Stew and I travelled across to West London to enjoy a spot of brunch in the sunshine at Megan's in Fulham. Voted in the Top 10 cafes in Fulham and Chelsea for brunch, Megan's is a favourite with both locals and visitors from further afield. This was our first visit, and as soon as we arrived, it was clear to see what all the fuss was about. The windows were piled high with delicious homemade brownies, cakes, biscuits and desserts. The cafe has a quaint, boutique feel to it with mismatched furniture, tiny corridors and a kitchen no bigger than mine or yours. And yet this tiny, independent cafe on the King's Road, serves up brunch, lunch and dinner to a full house all weekend (and I suspect all week).The brunch menu is small but perfectly formed with 3 main areas to choose from - eggs benedict, avo on toast and shakshouka. Yes there's granola and I think their might have been porridge on the menu, but when you look around you soon see that the favourites here are the savoury dishes, in particular the Avocado on Toast with Omega Seeds, and the classic Baked Eggs Shakshouka.In fact, they do Shakshouka 3 ways - classic, Shaksoumi (with halloumi) and Shakshorizo (with you guessed it - chorizo). Stew picked the latter straight away, so it was up to me to peruse the menu and make a decision. It was between the avocado on toast, with a poached egg, or their Sweet Potato Baked Eggs. This was served with kale, spinach and seeds and I was so intrigued by it, that I ended up choosing it.We also chose a side of halloumi to share and a jug of Pimm's to wash it all down with. Megan's currently offer a Pimm's menu, where you're able to choose from 3 variations of a Pimm's cocktail plus a brunch dish, for a discounted price. Considering Pimm's is the perfect summer beverage, it seems only fitting that Megan's would team up with them, as this cute little cafe is the perfect summer spot to catch up with friends over brunch.As you work your way up steps, through corridors and downstairs, you find the secret (or perhaps not so secret) gem of Megan's - their outdoor terrace area. Adorned with plants and fairy lights, it has a detractable roof which in the summer months allows for the sun to shine through. It's not often you find such a beautiful courtyard in London and Megan's have made the space truly their own.It was fantastic to see people enjoying brunch with their friends and family, whilst catching some rays and sipping on their flat white or Bloody Mary. There was even a hen do in the far corner who were sharing a wonderful selection of sharing boards - sweet potato, charcuterie and lots of fruit and vegetables caught my eye as the waiters went past with it. I'd love to go back maybe next year for my 30th. It's also located super close to the River Thames, where you can walk up the Chelsea Embankment and cross over the river to Battersea Park.
