M&S X Alexa Chung
I've been dying to share these photos with you! Last Wednesday I had the incredible opportunity of meeting fashion icon, Alexa Chung, at the launch of her new collection for Marks and Spencer - Archive by Alexa.
Brimming with excitement, and shaking with nerves, we had a few photos taken and a time for a little conversation. Although it was brief, it's certainly not a meeting I will forget in a hurry. Having been a fan of Alexa's style for many years, I jumped at the chance of meeting her and taking a look at her collection. I mean, who wouldn't!
Dressed in black pointy boots and the Elsie dress from her collection, she was radiant. Complaining that she felt jet lagged, you really couldn't tell. She was even more beautiful and effortlessly chic in person. And ridiculous tall!
Established in 1884, Marks and Spencer are house hold name within the fashion world, and who better than Alexa Chung to curate a collection. The range itself boasts 28 unique items, typical of Alexa's personal style, and calling on the heritage of the M&S brand. Think oversized shirts, whimsical tea dresses, soft knits and simple camis.
My favourite pieces include the
Frances trench coat in a beautiful shade of moss green, with a navy blue tartan lining, and the
Harry dress (pictured below).
Patterns have been kept to a minimum, but when they have been used they have done so in a way that exudes spring/summer fun, with rich paisley prints and delicate polka dots. The colour palette of the collection ranges from soft pastel pinks and lemon yellows, to more vibrant pops of red blue.
Prices start at just £19.50 and end no higher than £65, for a pair of black chelsea boots. The collection is not only affordable, and in keeping with M&S's existing price bracket, but it's also young, fun and very on trend for the season ahead.
I hope that this isn't the last we see of Alexa working with M&S and that perhaps another collection will soon follow. I'm sure it will be a great success, and no doubt it will sell out quickly. So be sure to place your orders soon! If you'd rather shop in store, the collection is available at these
participating stores.
