Last week Becca came to stay with me in Sydney :) She'd been in New Zealand for 7 weeks and was flying back home via Sydney so she changed her flight so that she could spend a couple of days with me in the city before returning to London.
It was so nice to see a friendly face from home! It feels like I've been away for ages now. I wish more friends could come and visit. Annoyingly on her first day sightseeing the heavens decided to open and the streets of Sydney almost flooded. We haven't seen rain since we arrived 6 weeks ago, typical! But we still managed to have fun.
We stopped off at Parlour Burger near Circular Quay for these rather tasty burgers. They were in 'charcoal' buns which I believe are just regular buns dyed with squid ink. And of course we had to take advantage of the $10 mojitos! Who doesn't want a cocktail with lunch?! After we'd finished food we set about taking a zillion selfies in the toilet mirrors in true blogger style.
Becca managed to get a few rainy photos in front of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House and then we decided to shelter from the downpour in a shopping mall where we picked up some amazing Mink Pink bargains. Mink Pink is so cheap over here. I got a leopard print midi skirt from £20 and Becca got a gorgeous floral maxi skirt. I'm sure we'll both be blogging about them soon.
Our couple of days together were very food based. We had Pad Thai takeaway for dinner and then headed for brunch/lunch on her second day at Orto Trading Co in Surry Hills. Here we both went for their eggs benedict style muffins, except the eggs come on top of fried chicken... pure filth, but so good!
One thing I will definitely miss about Australia is their quirky cafes, amazing cocktails and alfresco dining! That's technically three things but you get the idea. Australians are proud of their own ingredients and produce, keeping everything independent and local. None of these huge chain restaurants like we get back at home. Starbucks here are few and far between, and normally empty! There's such a vast selection of incredible places to eat that there's no place for giant corporations. Hence all my foodie photos on Instagram.
