Food | Hunky Dory, fish n chips in Melbourne

Hunky Dory, Chapel Street, Melbourne

One of my favourite eateries in Melbourne has to be Hunky Dory. Based just around the corner from our apartment on Chapel Street, Hunky Dory is the best equivalent that we've found to good old English fish n chips! Actually no scratch that, this is wayyy better than your local fish and chip shop back home.
Whilst you can opt for fish or a burger with chips Hunky Dory also sell a selection of succulent grilled fresh fish and you can have it served with the healthier option or rice and salad. The salad me and Stew both chose above is their house made Greek salad which contains cucumber, tomatoes, olives, red onion, sliced iceberg lettuce, feta and an amazing salad dressing. It's literally mouth watering.

I chose the mixed seafood salad and added rice to the dish. Which basically consisted of grilled prawns, calamari and a piece of tasty fish. I think the fish depends on the special of the day. Stew went for salt and pepper calamari which was lovely too. And last time we went I chose the Mediterranean grilled calamari which was like nothing I've ever tasted before. It was grilled to perfection and seasoned with delicious spices. If you've only ever had calamari fried like myself you must try it grilled. It's sooo good! I would highly recommend that but everything on the menu is amazing to be honest.
And each dish only cost us $18 which might sound a lot to you but that's less than minimum wage ($20) and I don't know anywhere in the UK where you could get a meal that tastes this good and is this BIG for less than Β£6.20.

I'm going to do a post about Melbourne as a kind of round up to my time here and it'll include all my favourite restaurants and bars so if you ever plan to come here it might prove helpful :)
